What about limiting elevation data to the areas of the world currently
covered by OSM?  It is not that much of the world currently
covered. :)

It would be interesting to see the current points of interest in
osm-editor, and make it possible to edit or add new ones.  I'll try to
add a few wifi points and see if they show up.

When I say wifi networks, I mean wireless networks open for the
public, yes. :)
