Yeah, just like you have to attribute BSD, so too would you attribute OSM, 
not the individual contibutors of each.  

It probably would make sense a some point to create a steering/projct
management committee who would hold the copyrigh, that all contributors
would sign over tot.  And better yet a legal entity like apache
foundation.  Of course, it's on a lot of unknown legal ground, since no
licenses are actually geared towards geodata.
