I've knocked up a quick and dirty PHP script to read in nodes and
segments (though none of the tags that go with them) from the
planet.osm file and insert them into nodes and segments tables in a
MySQL database using the OSM schema from
http://trac.openstreetmap.org/browser/sql/mysql-schema.sql

The code is at:

I didn't need the tags for what I was importing the data for, but feel
free to add in that functionality if you need them  :)
