Having looked at a comparison of the PGS data with the coastline data I have
been using for the Isle of Wight I can say I was fairly impressed with the
match. Particularly so if you take into account the fact that the I have
manually adjusted the outline which originated from the scan of the out of
date OS map so as to be the best fit to the actual coastline
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php/Image:ComparePGS.png shows a
comparison for a section of the Isle of Wight coastline. The area chosen
includes 200 ft high cliffs, a habour, with large sandbank which dries at
low water, and general coastline.
