Hello everyone,
A reminder that there's a Southern England pub meet next Tuesday at 7pm at The
Crown Inn, off Hawthorn Road, Highfield, Southampton. Coordinates:
approximately: lat='50.93194052' lon='-1.400842768'
Directions:
From the north:
Come down the M3 from the north, when it joins the M27 turn off on the A33
signposted Southampton. Follow Bassett Avenue southbound, past a roundabout,
until you reach the crossroads with the A35 (Burgess Road) about a mile south
of the motorway. A35 to the left is signposted University/Fareham. Very
shortly after this crossroads turn left on Highfield Avenue, this becomes
Highfield Lane. Second left is Hawthorn Road and the Crown car park is on the
right, in a short distance.
From the east:
M27 to the A335 intersection (airport). South on A335 towards Southampton,
when you reach McDonalds in just under a mile fork right. Follow Burgess Road
(A35) for 3/4 mile or so to the intersection with the Avenue (A33). Turn left
then shortly left again on Highfield Avenue, then see above.
From the west:
Relatively tricky. Probably best to follow the M27 to the airport turning, as
from the east then follow the "from the east" directions (above)
From Southampton City Centre:
North on The Avenue (signposted A33, Winchester) - it's the main road north
out of the city. Pass the Cowherds pub on the left, carry on for about half a
mile then turn right on Highfield Avenue then as above.
Train:
probably Southampton Airport Parkway is your best bet. Take the U1 bus to the
Stile pub (intersection of University and Burgess Road). Alight and walk a
short way west along Burgess Road past a row of banks etc on the left. At the
junction with Glen Eyre Road on your right, turn left along a pathway. It
goes through woods but should be safe before dark.
