There are some notes on the osmarender wiki pages for how to render maps 
without using firefox.  Some typical commands include

* xmlstarlet tr osmarender.xsl osm-map-features.xml > output.svg
* rsvg osm-map-features.xml output.svg
* inkscape -e output.svg osm-map-features.xml

Using programs like that is much faster, and gives you the full-size image 
without having to take screenshots of a browser.
