Updates to http://labs.metacarta.com/osm/ today:
* added support to 'zoom to feature' on the query attributes box, so if
you see 'm25', you can zoom to it, and then edit it.
* This also means that query.cgi now exports a bounding box around
the feature.
* Added a secondary vmap0 layer.
* Added a secondary Satellite layer (Blue Marble Next Generation)
* Added a 'last updated' line.
* Fixed an issue with railway stations rendering below roads.
* Added a cemetery image for a PointSymbolizer of landuse='cemetery'
areas.
* Added a "don't use cache" button to the interface. From the
explanation page for the functionality:
" Occasionally, a map doesn't render correctly -- creating blank tiles
where there shouldn't be blank tiles, for example. If you come across an
area where you think there should be data, you can temporarily set the
viewer to not use the cache, re-rendering the data instead.
Note that using the non-cached versions of tiles increases tile load
time by a factor of anywhere from 10->1000, depending on the area your'e
rendering. as such, it is typically best used as a tool to view a
particular area: browsing with cache off will slow down not only your
browsing experience, but that of others as well.
Also, choosing to turn off the cache will not fetch new data from
OpenStreetMap. That is only done after planet.osm database exports."
So, if you have an area where there are some blank tiles for whatever
reason, feel free to to turn off the cache temporarily.
I also worked with jburgess to define a 'replace' functionality for the
osm2pgsql translator, which would allow me to update the database
directly without having to have 45 minutes of downtime between the `drop
table` and `commit;` steps of the current SQL.
Feedback, as always, is welcome. If you think you see something which
can be done better, please feel free to reply here, but if you have a
specific styling suggestion, I highly recommend taking it to the trac
list, since that's where I check most often and keep track of all
changes that I have and have not yet done.
Regards,
