[OSM-talk] Adding JOSM to the OSM SVN repository : thoughts?

I just thought I'd send this to get an idea of the general opinion on adding JOSM to the OSM SVN repository. There seem to be a lot of extra features that people want, and if it was in OSM SVN, more people would be able to contribute directly and JOSM would see much more frequent updates. Other people on this list have also expressed this view privately.

I've emailed Imi about this and my understanding is that he's happy with a copy being placed into OSM SVN, but, I think, is unwilling to use OSM SVN as the primary repository for JOSM.

So one thing I could do is place my "1.4-nw2" version of JOSM (the one that was tweaked to handle NPE layers) in to the SVN repository. However I wouldn't want this to cause a rift with Imi or anyone else, so will not do so until I get general feedback from the list.

Thanks,
Nick
