>Footways, abutters and amenities are marked on all street maps I own.

I would say thats mapping more than the 'street', but its irrelevent.
Openstreetmap is more than just a streetmap. That point has been made by
many, many times.

>To sum up your position: Because I support drawing streets wider than
>they really are, it makes no sense for me to support making gates
>smaller than they are. Is this a correct interpretation of your
>argument?

The point of a street being wider is so its clearer. So to go smaller is
less clear. Even if the node is to render a sybol or something where the
gate falls, that is less clear. Therefore it seems illogical to state that
something should be a node, becuase another segment is rendered wider. I'm
awair that your point is consistent in the extent that your saying that the
scaling in realitiy doesnt have to be 'exaclty' the same as on the map. I
would agree to that, but the scaling of gates, seems to be the oposite of
your example with the road.

>>Please answer this. If you don't wish to tag gates, or tracks, or a
>>hedge row, why does that mean others should not be able to?

>Nowhere have I said I don't want to tag gates. Nowhere have I implied
>that others shouldn't be able to.

Sorry, I am partly getting muddled with emails now. I thourght you were
against tracktypes, although I suppose your points are just arguing for the
status of track, rather than against the use of tracktypes.

In that case, answer me this!: (to anyone)

Asuiming I hadn't made a single suggestion. Please tell me how to tag the
following.

1) A track that is a footway, and has gravel all the way a long
2) A hedge
3) A set of 3 gates in a row, with no hedging between
4) A bridge, wich has many other featuers apon it, as in first example.
5) A sheering pen, wich is made up of many gates, and a footway goes down
the center, then left, then right and up the lane. (this is a real example,
although isnt mapped)
