[Openstreetmap] Satellite images for offline use?

The imagery is from Landsat, a NASA satellite. Openstreetmap doesn't
hold the data locally, each time a tile is requested the applet queries
a WMS server. I believe it's the same server used by osm-editor, which
is:

http://onearth.jpl.nasa.gov/wms.cgi

USGS recently announced a new release of Landsat data, that has been
orthorectified:

http://technology.slashgeo.org/technology/05/12/29/1625212.shtml

You may select your desired landsat tiles using the glovis or oneearth
and then fetch them using the ftp links provided.

I'd love to hear other sources or tips.
