[Openstreetmap] Zooming in editor moves the focus

In the java-applet editor, when using [ and ] to zoom the map, it seems to 
return to the "start" of your current tracklog (i.e. the location it first 
showed when you selected a GPS trace and clicked "edit")

Is this intentional?  It takes quite a while to get back to the location of 
interest, and for those of us with an unreliable or slow internet connection, 
the applet often stops responding in the meantime.
