NMEA sentences that look like this:
$GPGGA,213942.248,5124.1614,N,00026.0372,W,1,07,1.0,60.0,M,47.1,M,20.9

$GPGSA,A,3,30,16,23,21,25,01,07,,,,,,2.2,1.0,1.9*3C
$GPGSV,3,1,09,25,54,278,45,30,49,103,46,07,27,235,37,01,20,250,37*74

$GPVTG,188.88,T,,M,32.42,N,60.0,K*60
$GPZDA,213942,05,07,2006,00,00*41
You can select which ones you want to log.
- Is the SD DOS-Formated?
Yes, it's a FAT16 file system. Tracks are logged to a file named
ccyymmdd_hhmmss.TXT in a top level directory named GPS_DATA. A new track
file is started each time the unit is switched on. You can optionally set
it to start a new file each time it reaches either 512k, 1034k or 2048k.
- Do you know if it can handle 4GB SD Cards?
Don't know. The docs say up to 2Gb. I've only tried it with 256Mb.
- Can i also use it like a normal USB-GPS-Mouse?
Not sure what you mean by this question. You can download the 8k of
trackpoints (that can be stored in main memory) via USB. I don't think
there is a way to access the contents of the SD card via the USB port.
There is, I think, a way of reading the track logs in real time from the USB
port, but I have not tried that (there is a setting called INTERFACE that
has the following options: NMEA, RTCM, BINARY if that means anything to
you).
- Does it have an external power supply for use in the Car?
Yes, that is a standard accessory, included in the price.
- Where did you buy it? At Storage Depot?
Yes, they seem quite reliable.
- The description says:
> > Tracks 1 with max. 8192 waypoints
> Is that without a SD card installed?
Yes, the 8k trackpoints are stored in the unit's onboard memory.
- Do you know if the device has another name too, or the name of
> the manufacturer?
The manufacturer is Taiwanese http://www.scytex.com
This might help me to find it at any german(or at least european)
> reseller.
> Or do you know a german reseller?
Storage Depot is the only one I know of.
Thanks a lot
