[OSM-talk] GPS traces far exceeding OSM

It seems to be a site for monitoring how fast you walk, cycle etc and upload 
it to a website for analysis. It "allows your gps device to communicate with 
the website" and appears to support most Garmin GPSs. Puzzled how that works. 
Surely only pda/phone based GPSs would be able to do that?
