[OSM-talk] GPS maps from OSM data

[Oops... didn't mean to send last message. Pressed some keyboard shortcut by 
mistake....]

Would like to announce an extension to the initial work on making Garmin GPS 
base maps.

If you go to the Freemap site (based on planet.osm data) at 
www.free-map.org.uk, you can, in conjunction with the cGPSmapper software. 
now generate a Garmin GPS map for the currently-displayed area by clicking on 
the appropriate link. It works by generating a "Polish format" map, the input 
format for the cGPSmapper software. More on the website.

A few caveats:


- These maps, like Freemap itself, are based on the planet.osm data dump. This 
is monthly at present but is likely to go daily soon.

- Only nodes and ways will be sent to your GPS device; segments which are not 
part of ways are ignored.
