Indeed. 
I've downloaded the full set of England and Wales, at least (sadly I don't get up to Scotland much these days) and they fit nicely on my 64Mb card. I can vouch for their accuracy, at least on spot testing. 
Kudos to David Storey who generated the entire UK contour maps from NASA's publicly available SRTM data.
