[OSM-talk] Slippy map and gpsbabel/gpx (two questions)

Just a couple of queries (I've been saving them up).

Out of curiosity, how often does the openstreetmap.org/index.html
slippy map update? It seems to be slightly out of date in my area.

Also, I use gpsbabel to transfer date from my garmin etrex to a gpx
file for use in JOSM. I understand that support for GPX will be
withdrawn in the future. What format should I transfer to using
gpsbabel that josm will understand? I didn't seem to see an .osm
format.
