[OSM-talk] amenity = place_of worship, identifying a religion

The current way of identifying a religion for a place of worship is by use 
of the rather misleading denomination=christian|jewish|muslim|etc tag.

It ahs been proposed on 
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php/Proposed_features/denomination that 
rather than denomination= it would be more appropriate to tag this as 
religion=christian|jewish|muslim|etc.

I have just opened the voting on 
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php/Proposed_features/denomination to 
change the existing tag name.  As this is a proposed change to an existing 
tag I have decided to leave the voting open for three weeks, until 10 
December.

If the vote for the change is agreed then I will instruct the change to be 
incorporated into  http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php/User:JLS/speller 
so that existing tags are changed.
