I use it on GNU/Linux (Ubuntu) from the command line.
When on my laptop, I often don't launch any graphic environment. It's an 
old one and I'm happy with the command line and a few scripts to handle 
GPS and camera data.


I also kept the win32 gpsbabel.exe on my USB key to be able to save my 
track with any borrowed computer. For this, i also use the command 
line... and I appreciate that it's a simple exe without installation or 
needed dependency.
