Hi,
thanks to all who shared their thoughts. Some like the command line,
some use other tools, some wrote (BTW very cool) shell scripts.
Well, I wanted to have a graphical, platform independent, free interface
to gpsbabel. There's not release yet (due to the fact that the code is
in pre alpha stage and I know my bugs best :), but there are some
screenshots on its homepage:

The idea is that it remembers your usual setup and offers customizable
presets so one can save his or her most often needed settings (load
route to device, get track from device, convert from format a to format
b etc.). Presets can be modified/created using the GUI or by pasting
the gpsbabel command to a lineedit.
Any comments are very welcome.
