Until you click over an area which contains a way, you shouldn't see
anything there. Once you do, you should see "Loading", followed by
either "Loading OSM data for way $foo" or a list of ways which match (if
your click covered more than one way). 

Can you get this to work?

I just tried it in Safari, and it doesn't seem to work. Can you try it
in another browser if it doesn't work, and report back on your thoughts
(if you care to)? I'm not really concerned about supporting everything
quite yet -- so long as the map still works in your browser, the editing
tools can wait.
