AFAIK, for mini roundabouts you just use a node tagged 
with "highway=mini_roundabout", and the full roundabouts you draw it and tag 
it with "junction=roundabout" (along with whatever highway specification it 
wants).

I'm curious, by the way. What makes you say you can't mark it up properly, 
i.e. what feedback are you getting to make you say that?
