I got those sorts of errors when I used a JAR from one version of JOSM 
plus the main program from another. Best thing to do is compile the jars 
from source. 

Sorry... I said I'd make some binary JARs compatible with the current 
release available last night - but got distracted with other things. I 
will do it this evening.
