On a slightly related note, I find the OSM logo, with the magnifying
glass over map data, surprisingly reminiscent of the ArcView 3.x logo.
This can be seen within an old Arcview 3 product brochure [1].
Variations on the magnifying glass were used throughout the Arcview 3
series and associated extensions, and of course on T-shirts.
Its not exactly a problem, since Arcview 3 is now superseded, remembered
only by aging GIS geeks, and current ESRI branding seems to emphasize
their world logo. But, if there is to be a website design competition,
maybe the logo is up for grabs too. I'd suggest borrowing the Wikipedia
jigsaw globe, but somehow imbuing it with streetmap-ness ;-).
