Steve,
On all the Etrex range you have to have the interface setting in the unit
set to "GARMIN" (or "GARMIN DGPS" I think will work too) in order to
download the active tracks with gpsbabel. NMEA is a real time transfer
format, sentences spewed out every 1 second so. You use that format when you
are logging directly to a computer, unless you are using Garmin's mapsource
software on the computer, in which case you still use the GARMIN setting as
far as I recall.
Good to get that down on the wiki. I'm surprised its not already there
somewhere.
Trust it otherwise went well yesterday.
