We could compute the distance between the trackpoints and use that to
sum up the distance covered by tracklogs. That would result in a race for
miles / kilometres, but it's not necessarily better. Users putting a lot
of effort to map every single dead end road will never cover as many miles
as somebody who repeatedly drives long distance on motorways and uploads
tracklogs regardless of current coverage.
A good ranking system will have to cover every single aspect of editing
and combine that into a single formula. Finding the formula is one of the
next huge steps for mankind, I guess. ;)
