[OSM-talk] New Forest weekend - - press releases and other things

A quick reminder, - the above mapping weekend will take place on September 23rd/24th, in other words two weeks tomorrow :-) The wiki page,

http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php/New_Forest

will always contain the latest update to the plans for the weekend. Basic idea is to use Brockenhurst as a base, as it's fairly central and on a main train line.

There might be difficulties with a morning meeting point (though certainly no difficulties for evening...) so we may need a mailing list/wiki discussion for planning what areas to map beforehand. The OpenLayers-enabled Freemap might help here too.

A couple of requests: firstly, I don't own a laptop so it would be very useful if someone could bring along a laptop with JOSM installed, so we can do the sort of thing we did at Bath and the IoW.

Secondly, with regards to a press release - I've not done this sort of thing before but I guess the thing to do is email local papers, radio and (possibly - maybe this is a bit too much for the scale of the event) the regional Southern TV programmes with a modified version of what Andy did for Bath and David(+Steve?) for the IoW?
