[OSM-talk] Adding Addresses to OSM

The problem with not having address data is how a navigation program would
find the correct location on the street. Zip (postal) codes in the US are
very broad and cover an entire city. For some countries there are databases
available that will translate an address into lat/lon but for many countries
there aren't such databases. When the databases are available they usually
aren't free as in speech and are often inaccurate. Collecting address data
should be a joke when compared to collecting GPS data. Just walk/drive
around to each house's driveway and take down their street, number, and
coordinates. Clients that need address data could get it from a seperate
user created database that stores addresses and their lat/lons.
