Appparently "elevation" is used to indicate the relative position of things,
as an integer (not to be confused with "ele" which represents the physical
height)
so an island in a lake below sea-level just needs to have elevation=1 to
ensure it renders above the default elevation=0 of the lake (or give the lake
an elevation=-1 to put it below the island). They might both have an
ele=-50, that doesn't affect most renderers.
