[OSM-talk] GPS maps from OSM data - update

An update to my messages about GPS maps from OSM data, and the problems that 
ways consisting of unordered/misaligned segments cause.

I managed to get round this by making the GPS map from the *individual 
segments* (with tags of the parent way applied) rather than the complete 
ways. I thought this would use up hideous amounts of memory - more than the 
GPS unit could cope with - but it appears not to be the case.

So a decent New Forest map will appear on the wiki page, and the script

http://nick.dev.openstreetmap.org/openlayers/gpsmap.php

can be used to create decent background maps from your GPS.
