My reason for agreeing that change of name was good one is that using a
numerical value after the name “elevation” may be misleading because it’s
not actually an elevation.
I put “elevation” originally in map features for the specific purpose that
Etienne is using it for, ie the rendering order, with no real thought at the
time beyond that. display_layer seems more logical to me now.
Using the “bridge” tag is there to enable the appropriate segments to be
rendered as a bridge rather than as the adjoining ways. It’s not really
suited to describing the order for display rendering.
I have been pondering for some time how to get a proper print of Spaghetti
junction.
It’s been mapped for a fair while but I’ve not attempted to print it. It’s
not just the motorway and its sliproads to worry about either. We have local
roads, a major roundabout, 3 canals, a river and a railway line to contend
with all at the same location. Clearly though its time to go in and set the
layer order for each segment that crosses another. With a bit more work on
the surrounding roads at many motorway junctions we could produce some nice
motorway junction maps pretty soon.
