the crux is that there are several subsets of the svg standard. I have 
experimented with svg some time ago to create graphics for wikipedia. 
As soon as you try to use text or hatches, firefox doesn't display 
them. So I converted hatches and text into svg primitives, but then the 
idea of wikipedia, that you easily can edit the content, is gone.
I really hope the filrefox guys will improve the support for svg as soon 
as possible.
