Being an excessive cyclist, my main intention to work on OSM is cycle
route planning. But I admit that currently we first need some basic
data so I avoid special cyclist tagging. That's postponed until we have
more basic data. Currently there's less chance to use OSM data for
something like autorouting.
What I can imagine one day is that we have an autorouting which cannot
only do routing for several vehicles based on "best time" and "shortest
distance" but also "nicest route" or (especially for slow bike
riders :) "flattest route". But currently there's less infrastructure
(superways, tags etc.) to start on such a tagging.
Currently I use
http://www.marengo-ltd.com/map/development.html
or
http://clickroute.de/
to plan my cycle tours, and I really hope that one day I can use such a
tool based on OSM data.
