Fact: No one is competing with OSM.
You refer to three people, all of whom fervently want to see
OpenStreetMap succeed. The reason I have been working on my own
projects for the last couple of years is that I have *always* felt
unwelcomed by certain members of the community, and feel that I have
seen other people driven away similarly. I don't want to speculate
about why this has been; but I think that we can all agree now that
OSM has become too important a project to let a little social
awkwardness like that get in the way of working to help it to continue
to succeed. We are all, I assure you, on the same side.

I think I consider allegations of "hidden motives" to be more
destructive than constructive, but I would rather let it slide. The
next time you have doubts about me or my motives, please as a simple
matter of personal respect address them to me personally before
drawing spurious conclusions in public. This whole thing has been so
unnecessary.
