[OSM-talk] Pedestrian crossings and barriers

Seeing as we're having fun with animal names, here's something very anoraky
with some historical background of crossings in the UK:

For example, pelican crossing were originally going to be called pelicons,
from PEdestrian LIght CONtrolled.

Just be grateful we didn't end up with some of the wacky systems mentioned
(although the flashing amber arrow could have been useful).
