As far as I know currently this currently just renders on the osmarender 
layer (it will actually render building=*), although there was talk on 
the mailing list regarding adding this to the mapnik layer as well. It 
is a nice example of using a simple tag to help the renderer draw the 
layer without having to define every type of building that people may 
want to use.

I guess anyone could add this to the map features page :)
