Often this is true, but equally it is often not.
A local cyclist may have the knowledge, and will be able to tag the route
accordingly. A motorist just seeing a bicycle sign pointing a particular
way will have no idea from just seeing a directional signpost, whether this
is part of a route or not.
So please, if you are going to mark cycle routes and you don't have the
local cycle knowledge, please take the time to follow the signpost, check
it out, and see what the story is.
There are many examples in Sydney of bicycle directional signposts that
don't indicate any sort of cycle route. It would devalue a Sydney cycle
map to have these indicated as cycle routes.
