Yes it does when you click on the way to be deleted. But in this
context, the suggestion was to select all ways using the search
function and then click the delete button. This will only ever delete
the ways themselves and not the nodes no matter how hard you thumb
down on Alt.
Maybe something for the todo list ;-)
