I tend to tag "halt" for anything that doesn't look like a proper
station. If it's just a platform and a shelter, then it is a halt. If it
has a station building, then I use station. Anything on a "tram" line is
a halt unless the tram stops at a national railway station; and I guess
if I lived in a place that had a subway, I'd use "halt" there too.
If "station" is used for every little subway stop in London, then how
would one distinguish the large stations like Waterloo, Victoria,
Paddington and Euston? It is not for me to decide but I think the
difference in size and importance should somehow be mirrored in the tag.
