Indeed, land in Scotland is by default accessible, it's just that you
might get shot at if the owner doesn't want that.
For instance, St.Andrews' Old Course is common land, apparently the
locals can put their washing up on a line on the golf course.
The laws of access in England and Wales seem very odd to me.
