That is part of the problem :(
Navigation through any wiki is a pain and trying to work out what you 
need to search for is just as bad.
But more of a problem is now that I have that page - how do I actually 
use the information on it :(

I think I have two mail list accounts along with the other two for wiki 
and map. But the point I was making was that the need for different 
account is not obvious when people are coming to the project new, going 
to the wiki and then getting directed to the map.

I know the problem, but currently my spare time is being spent getting 
the bones of my surrounding rural area actually into the map. I now have 
a set of tools that seem to work from the laptop and am actually bing 
productive. When I get time I will do a page on THAT.

Not had time to investigate what had happened. I loaded a section over 
the weekend, when I went back Monday some bits were broken. I fixed them 
loaded a lot more, and when I went back in last night other sections 
were broken. It's difficult enough finding time to do it once ...
Now I have to work out what you are talking about ;)
I'm using JOSM as my interface - how do I do a 'GET' - WHICH account do 
I use for the 'API' access anyway?

Yes - and I know all the problems, but there needs to be a set of core 
rules that make basic operations easy to use. 'GET' on the wiki took me 
to wikipedia which gives a very nice explanation of what it is but 
NOTHING on how to do it in OSM?

And Steve I only have a couple of lists that cause me problems with MY 
setup. All the rest work nicely ;)

Anyway I've blown todays time allowance :(
