[OSM-talk] The segments vs ways vs superways question again...

Quite a few replies to this thread, so here's my general feeling:

I still think that ways should have all their segments stored in correct order 
and aligned correctly in the database, and that each branch of a branched 
road should be stored as a separate way. I agree with the points that it's 
not terribly easy to order ways using the editors at the moment. It would, I 
feel, be better to have the editors (rather than renderers) to do the job of 
processing the data, there are likely to be fewer editors than renderers and 
it would be better that rendering code does not have to deal with the 
complexities of processing unordered data from the server. Node/way/superway 
(or whatever) still seems to remain the optimum solution though.
