Tim,

This sounds like your talking about the phisical properties of the surface
of the road, rather than road widths. I agree its inportant to tag this and
have debated this a LOT before. I have given up now, but the splitting up
of the types of track's is still on the proposed features page.
>(grass -> mud -> dirt -> gravel -> roughly surfaced
Yep, I've covered it with tracktypes...I don't mean to resererect old
battles, but yeah.
>For example I don't care whether a track is gravel or dirt or grass etc
Fair enough, but others may
>lanes=2 passing easy
>lanes=1.5 passing tricky
>lanes=1 passing is a real pain
I see where your comming from but there is a slight problem. It would
really be about.
lanes=2 (passing easy)
lanes=2 (passing cautious)
lanes=1.5 or less (passing inposible, so use grass <or whatever> on either
side)
lanes=1.5 or less (passing inposible on grass on either side <or whatever>)
The top one could maybe just be lanes=2.5, as its wider, but the information
the tag then gives sounds wrong, becuase there is only 2 lanes, but they are
reletively wide. Also on the other 3 they lack lanes, so again the tag
doesnt seem too fitting.
>It's also worth pointing out that most regional maps I've seen tend to have

>unpaved but suitable for most vehicles and dotted >gray lines for tracks
>which require >= 4x4. while I don't advocate blindly following what

>between the 2 shows that there is >certainly an issue to be debated.
Yep, agreed. Ususally, OS get the tracks completly wrong, as they have
changed too much for them to keep up with. They still try to state the
difference. Its also inportant to note they are solid grey lines, rather
than colours, wich is because they are not public unless otherwise marked.
Colours are used to indicate public access. Thats my view, I don't wish to
start a battle about that.
