Its probably worth noting  a few features which have made in into JOSM over 
the last few releases.

The current version is 198, downloadable from :
http://josm.eigenheimstrasse.de/download/josm-latest.jar

New features / enhancements include:

1) Ability to edit both the key and the value of an object
2) The cursor displays differently depending on what tool you have selected
3) enhancements to the tool to split ways
4) More tools, previously available only through the menu,  are available to 
be added to the toolbar (see preferences)
5) The deselect tool has been added.
