2nd bit of feedback from carto-soc on waterproof papers:
---------------
... printer recommends Polyart which is a Robert Horne paper.
Type Polyart into Google to find specs etc.
---------------
Let me express a big NO vote on Polyart. We make and sell hiking maps and look at what others do. We use tyvek because it is much more durable than polyart. I have a number of useless polyart maps that have cracked along folds, had the type lifted off by getting frozen together and trying to peel apart, unreadable at the corners of folds, etc.
There is no free lunch however. Ink on tyvek bleeds somewhat and does not give as clear a print as polyart so the initial impression is less good. Our tyvek maps wil stand up to weekly use for years and even a trip through the washing machine. Polyart just does not have that durability and can be cut really short by one cold trip in the snow. It is not clearly cost effective over cheap paper which you know will only last a few trips.
---------------
Cheers

Subject: [OSM-talk] wet strength map paper

Hello,

this might be slightly off-topic regarding our effort for OSM, but I
need wet strength map paper.
So, is anyone on the list once was looking after such kind of material?

best regards and keep digitizing,
Stephan.
