Hi,

    the most important points have already been said, just one:

> Until renderers have artificial intelligence, they will need some help
> to make decent maps.

I am sure they will. And we will supply this help by _adding_ tags  
specially aimed at the renderers, for example: "Hint: Although this  
piece of road is not technically and legally a motorway, please do  
draw it in motorway colour because otherwise the map looks strange".  
We will _not_ start tagging things as motorways just so that the map  
doesn't look strange, because we want other applications to work with  
our data, and we should _not_ remove correct and useful information  
from the data base just because a particular version of a particular  
renderer has trouble with it.
