[OSM-talk] State of the Map

Hello,

*Announcements and details about the State of the Map Conference
should normally be sent to party at openstreetmap.org.  This mail is to
make sure that the whole community knows what's going on, but all
communication will normally be via party.*

As everyone probably already knows, Openstreetmap is holding a
conference, humbly entitled "The State of the Map" [1], on the 14th
and 15th July in Manchester.  Preparations are in full swing.  There
was an IRC meeting [2] last night, at which we started to sketch up
some preliminary roles and began to take the actions that will be
needed to make the conference a success.  Please check out the wiki
page and add your ideas.

Basically, we have identified the following areas of responsibility:

    * Registration and Programme - Nickb
    * Finance, budget, time line - 80n
    * Exhibitors and Sponsors - SteveC
    * Promotion and Press - (Blackadder) Volunteered by 80n
    * AV, Facilities -
    * Desk Management -

So we need volunteers to run the AV and Facilities and to manage the
desk at the conference.  This is by no means exclusive - there are
lots and lots of jobs to go around, but we do need a certain level of
co-ordination.  So if anyone would like to do something to help,
please sign up to the wiki or the party mailing list.

One thing we do need quite soon is a logo.  If someone with some
killer design skills could knock one up, it would be fantastic.  Once
we have a logo and a site, we can start announcing to anyone and
everyone what are plans are.

presentation.  Book early to avoid disappointment.
