[OSM-talk] Funding OSM by selling maps

When I was first in Soissons (France) I wanted to get a small map of
the city, and was surprised of the price: for a small map of the
center of town, format a3, on normal paper and black & white, it would
have cost me 7€.

Have you already thought that in towns where the coverage would be
really near to 100%, OSM could sell maps for a lot cheaper than that,
and thus make money, covering servers, bandwidth, events?

Has this idea already been raised before? I didn't found it in the archives.
