Hullo,
A colleague of mine is working with developers in China on a mixed used development for 20,000 people in the Panyu district of Guangzhou. She wants to make maps of the development as soon as people start moving in, and to mobilise residents to get involved with the venture. She's quite keen to do it using the OpenStreetMap toolchain, rather than reinventing the wheel or having to invest in some expensive proprietary system. If it works out well then I'm going to try and push OSM as a standard tool for all the developments we're involved with around the world :)
I've noticed a little mapping activity in China so I assume it basically works, but are there any problems that she should be aware of?
If anyone is working in China I'd like to get in touch. So far I've just found someone with the username 'Dtucny' on the wiki, but no contact details.
Kind regards,
Tom
