[OSM-talk] Users of the JOSM "select straight line" feature?

Hi,

    is anyone using the "select straight line" feature in JOSM at all?

A patch has been submitted that would add a feature where you select  
one  segment and it automatically selects all adjacent, unwayed, non- 
branching segments, with the aim of making it easier to create ways.

I feel this is similar (but not identical) to the "select straight  
line" feature. I am reluctant to add the new feature as-is because it  
might confuse people due to its similarity to the existing feature.  
But what about replacing the "select straight line" by this new  
feature? It seems that the new feature can be used in almost all  
cases where "select straight line" was used previously, or am I  
missing something?
