[OSM-talk] Possible method to survey countryside features

I have thought of a possible method to survey features in the
countryside that aren't necessarily near paths, and avoids you needing
to explicitly map everything.

* Find at least 2 points visible from each other with good views with
lots of items in common.
* Take GPS positions and panoramic photos of the points (i.e. take lots
of photos in a circle and stitch them with Autostitch)
* Mark points on the images - start with the view of each point from the
other one to calibrate the direction, then mark any other points of
interest visible in both images.
* You now have all the data you need to easily triangulate of all the
points of interest.

What do people think?
